The awesome power the mind. Does it control who you are and who you become?

Will people who think positively and highly of themselves have a better chance at life simply because the power of the mind is great enough to bring the thoughts and ideas stored to manifest itself in the real world or life? The awesome power the mind. Does it control who you are and who you become?
well, you're close. the power of the mind is within you - it's not a separate entity. the reason thinking positively results in success is because you're not busy sabotaging yourself. The more positive you are about yourself, the less dysfunctional you are and dysfunction breeds failure. The awesome power the mind. Does it control who you are and who you become?
I don't think so, not if you're asking who they are. Who we are is hard-wired, it can't be thought. We are either generous or greedy, truthful or deceitful, patient or erratic. These things are who we are, everything else is made up. We are controlled by our own minds to believe things and want things that aren't necessarily what's best.

For Example:

People who think highly of themselves are usually people who spend too much time thinking about how others view them-success is determined by how much money they have, what kind of car they drive, blah blah blah. Or perhaps they have insecurities they hide behind with over confidence. Their mind has manipulated them into thinking that that stuff is even important.

So to answer the question: Does the power of the mind control who you are: absolutely NOT. You are who you are because of how you were raised, where you were raised, nature/nurture, you are NOT your mind, it's the over powering thoughts that in your head that get in the way of who you really are.

:o)
You speak as if the mind is separate from who you are. It is not. The mind is that consciousness we all have that monitors and regulates and manages our entirety, the whole person we are.

The mind has many important functions, of course. Among them are (1) giving meaning to all events we experience or that come to our attention. (At just one per minute, we had more than 2.1 million experiences before we started first grade). (2) Labeling events and experiences, giving them names so we (that is, our mind) could organize them. (3) Giving those events and names importance to us. That importance was, to us, the ';subjective truth'; of events, that is, not what the events mean but what they mean TO US. This is called ';personal truth'; and, since we believe what we tell ourselves is true, they become our Beliefs and, collectively, our Belief System.

Much of this depends on our thoughts, the conscious and semi-conscious conversations we have within our mind, what is called ';self-talk'; or simply talking to ourselves.

Thoughts, like our mind, are not separate, but are our own creation. You make up your own thoughts. You give them words and turn them into mental sentences. You create them. You control them. (At night, we call them ';dreams.';) Awake or asleep, from birth to death, without stopping, our thoughts solve our problems. Everything (to the mind) is a problem that needs to be solved.

As you say... ';The awesome power of the mind.';
I think the mind is everything that IS us. People who think positive are more likely to do things that better their future. If you think positive...you create positive outcome. If you are apt to think negative...negative outcomes. Simple as that really. I think negative people are drawn to and expect the negative.

Jenny...that's partly true but your mind processes that information and how you perceive that stuff is from the mind.

Two people can be raised in basically the same dysfunctional environment yet one can overcome it due to how they mindfully perceive the situation.
Not directly--I don't think there's any evidence for the idea that the mind can actually ';think'; things into existence, like magic.

However, attitude and confidence DO play a huge role in determining how well we achieve our goals, because optimistic and confident people will tend to make the most of their situations. It's not magic; just hard work.
i found this dvd somewhere that is titled ';the secret';. it talks about that. it says that whatever you think of,y ou will attract it.

if you believe something is already yours, it will be yours. whatever you think of, it will be your future. i tried doing it. it's fun!

i get whatever i want and i become whoever i want to be. visit www.thesecret.tv
have you seen anybody who thought negatively and poorly of themselves rising to power or to a wealthy station in life...unless you give up the power over your mind to someone else, you (your mind) are in control of your decisions and what you become in life....
you have found one of the keys to life. every second, every thought, every action, every word forms your future. but there's also subliminal out there that can seed your brain then explode. exercise all dimensions. Mind, body, and soul.
In general, in free countries, I think that is true.
