What is hypertension and how do you control it?

That's just the medical term for high blood pressure. It's a good idea to have yours checked periodically by your doctor. Your ideal blood pressure is 120/70. The top number is the diastolic pressure, and the bottom number is the systolic. That coincides with your heartbeats. If it is extremely high, (anything over 145/90 is considered high) he or she may prescribe medication to keep it under control. Some of the things you can do for yourself, though, are reducing sodium (salt) from your diet, getting a lot of exercise or physical activity, and learning to relax and not getting too stressed. Hypertension does not have any symptoms, so many people have it and don't realize it until they get their blood pressure checked. However, high blood pressure is very insidious -- in other words, it can sneak up on you and eventually cause serious complications, such as heart trouble, strokes, diabetes and kidney problems, so it's nothing you want to ignore. Keeping it under control is simple if you follow your doctor's instructions and maintain a healthy lifestyle. What is hypertension and how do you control it?
yup its high blood pressure. For a start you should consult a doctor who might give u medication to control your hypertension. Also avoid foods high in salt such as canned food, ham, bacon, sausages, fast food, salted snacks (nuts and chips), pickled vegetables and salted fish. Avoid foods where 'sodium' appears early in the list of ingredients, as this suggests a high content of salt. avoid monosodium glutamate too! What is hypertension and how do you control it?
